Summary: The Procurement Engineer role at ASMPT involves acting as the purchasing representative for the R&D department, focusing on optimizing costs and sourcing solutions for various projects. The position requires collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to ensure accurate material estimates and timely delivery of materials throughout different project phases. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and possess both technical and commercial expertise in procurement. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in Weymouth, England.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with suppliers and internal teams to optimize costs and provide reliable sourcing solutions.
- Work with project teams to provide knowledge of material estimates, costs, and suppliers.
- Ensure accurate understanding of manufacturing costs and contribute to business case preparation.
- Manage the purchase and delivery of materials for various project phases.
- Develop quality plans with Supplier Quality for prototype and pre-series stages.
- Steer sourcing projects through various stages by developing BoMs and providing necessary documentation.
- Engage with engineers and commodity managers to manage supply chain risks.
- Participate in vendor selection, negotiations, and price calculations.
Key Skills:
- Qualification in business/commercial discipline and engineering discipline.
- CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply or equivalent experience.
- Experience in sourcing and managing supplier relationships in an engineering context.
- Technical knowledge and commercial experience for costing and sourcing.
- Ability to work towards cost targets with a proven track record.
- Leadership qualities to influence internal decisions and empower suppliers.
- Understanding of value vs costs in product design across multiple materials.
- Proficiency in analyzing data within ERP (ideally SAP) and PLM systems (ideally Teamcenter).
