Summary: Special Quality Alloys, a leader in supplying forged and rolled products in nickel-based super alloys and stainless steels, is seeking a Process Metallurgist / Forging Process Engineer. The role involves routing stock, contract review, technical support, and writing procedures for forging orders. Key Responsibilities:

  • Routing of stock or forging jobs producing materials to customer and international specifications.
  • Contract review of sales orders.
  • Providing technical and quality support to the sales department pre and post contract award.
  • Producing pre-production documentation for various projects and products.
  • Witnessing and recording forging processes at suppliers.
  • Writing procedures for forging orders and tooling.
  • Setting/checking furnace temperatures and undertaking internal heat treatment of tooling.
  • Scheduling temperature surveys and liaising with forging team members and the technical team.

Key Skills:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in the steel industry preferred but not essential.
  • Numerate and computer literate.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work well in a busy team environment.

Special Quality Alloys is a member of the Special Steel Group of Companies and are a market leader in supplying the oil & gas other engineering industries with forged and rolled products in nickel based super alloys and stainless steels. As a result of continued expansion, we are looking for a Process Metallurgist / Forging Process Engineer to join our successful business, either an experienced individual or newly qualified engineer.

After suitable training duties will include:

  • Process Metallurgist: Routing of stock or forging jobs producing materials to a wide variety of customer and international material specifications.
  • Contract review of sales orders.
  • Technical / quality support to the sales department pre and post contract award.
  • Production of pre-production documentation for a wide range of projects and products including customer facing meetings.
  • Witnessing and recording of forging processes carried out at suppliers.

Forging Process Engineer:

  • Write procedures for forging orders and tooling.
  • Witnessing and recording the forging process, set/check furnace temperatures, undertake internal heat treatment of tooling and development work, schedule temperature surveys, liaise with forging team members and the technical team.

Skills Required

Experience in the steel industry is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided. Candidates should be degree qualified in an engineering discipline, be numerate, computer literate, have excellent communication skills, have strong attention to detail, and be able to work well with the other members of a busy team.
