Summary: The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for supporting the delivery of capital projects in the Specialty Chemicals industry on a Top Tier COMAH site. This role requires collaboration with various teams and expertise throughout the project life cycle, from design to commissioning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering and a commitment to safety and efficiency. This is a 9-month contract position classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborating closely with the projects department and plant support teams.
- Providing in-depth process engineering expertise during FEED, detailed design, construction, and installation stages.
- Leading the commissioning of projects to ensure design intent is met and production is established safely and effectively.
Key Skills:
- Degree-level education in Chemical or Process Engineering (BEng or MEng equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer and full Member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers (MIChemE).
- Practical experience and theoretical knowledge in batch processing, particularly in the fine chemicals industry.
- Proven experience leading process engineering for capital projects.
- Familiarity with HSE standards, including Pressure Relief Definition and Design, Basis of Safety definition, and Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Knowledge of Process Risk Assessment systems (eg, HAZOP) and the ability to prepare relevant documentation.
- Experience in commissioning capital projects on a Top Tier COMAH site (desirable).
- Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to control activities effectively (desirable).
- Excellent team collaboration skills, with a talent for influencing and gaining support (desirable).
- Proficient in problem identification and analysis, with the capability to define and communicate proposals clearly (desirable).
