Summary: The Process Engineer role involves ensuring the industrialization and introduction of new high-reliability products into production for a London-based client on a 6-month rolling contract. Key Responsibilities:
- Design improvement solutions for mechanical assembly processes, tools, and manufacturing equipment using lean manufacturing principles.
- Manage the implementation of improvements and innovations from concept to final handover.
- Create technical documentation packages for new equipment/process solutions following company standards.
- Validate tooling and test benches prior to introduction into manufacturing.
- Define and monitor project KPIs and budget.
- Perform PUWER assessments and define maintenance strategies for equipment.
- Conduct FMEA and work closely with R&D to ensure ease of manufacturing.
- Evaluate prototype parts and provide feedback to aid assembly procedures and design.
- Define and design tooling and equipment to simplify product assembly.
- Review and validate contract documentation prior to release.
- Attend NPI meetings and provide inputs into minutes and reports.
- Ensure assembly procedures are approved and issued as per project plans.
- Write build and process specifications for new products.
- Ensure tooling/equipment are procured and validated per company standards and regulations.
- Define standard build times for assembly processes and maintain Reference Ops.
- Oversee production personnel during qualification unit builds and provide support for new product start-ups.
- Instruct and advise operators on assembly processes.
- Write Extra Work Authorisation for product investigations and define corrective actions.
- Review and analyze production processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Conduct audits on production processes to ensure compliance.
- Lead and participate in Kaizen projects to reduce waste and improve production costs.
- Collaborate with various departments including Supply Chain, Quality, and Production.
Key Skills:
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Design the improvement solutions (mechanical assembly process, tools, tooling, manufacturing equipment) to be put into production with lean manufacturing approach.
- Manage the implementation of step change improvements & new innovations, from initial concept to final handover.
- Create the technical documentary package for new equipment/ process solutions (mechanical assembly procedures, tools documentation, tooling drawings, manufacturing equipment procedures, etc) following company procedures and standards.
- Validation of the tooling, test benches (ergonomics, safety, etc), new processes, etc prior to introduction into manufacturing.
- Define and monitor project KPIs and budget.
- SPR and PO management.
- Perform PUWER assessments.
- Define Maintenance strategy for new and old equipment.
- Perform FMEA.
- Works closely with R&D to ensure products and process are designed for ease of manufacturing.
- Evaluates prototype parts/assembly/equipment for new product implementation. Provide feedback to SED/R&D on various issues to aid assembly procedure and design.
- Defines and designs tooling and equipment required to simplify the assembly of the product.
- Reviews and validates contract documentation (Drawings, Bill of Materials) prior to release.
- Attends products New Process and New Product Introduction (NPI) meetings and provide inputs into the minutes. Provide reports or meeting minutes.
- Ensures assembly procedures are approved and issued as per project plan.
- Writes build and process specifications for new products ensuring they can be easily understood.
- Ensures that tooling / equipment are procured/designed and validated/commissioned as per company standard, PUWER, LOLER, HSE regulation and ISO standard to meet development and production plans.
- Defines standard build times for each assembly process and maintain Reference Ops on the company system.
- Oversees / supervises production personnel during first off build of qualification units. Provides production support for new product start-up and day-to-day support. Provides practical application of mechanical, production, industrialisation and design knowledge to solve problems.
- Instructs and advises operators in the assemble of the development and production unites.
- Writes Extra Work Authorisation (EWA) for product investigations. Reviews Investigation Request (IR/ITS) and defines corrective actions to maintain production build. Investigate and define Root Causes for the defects. Implement improvements and poka-yoke solutions to eliminate defects in the future products.
- Constantly reviews and analysis production processes to improve efficiency, quality, HSE, down time, reject rates and reduce standard times and cost.
- Conducts production processes audits on procedures to ensure all are compliant.
- Leads/ participates in variety of Kaizen projects to reduce waste, improve standard build times and reduce production cost.
- Support and collaborate with department: Supply Chain Engineers, Purchasing, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Support, Training School, Call Off, SQM, etc.
