Summary: The role of Process Engineer involves developing manufacturing processes in the Defence & Security sector for an 8-month contract in Glascoed. The engineer will manage technical requirements, support tendering processes, and implement safe working systems while ensuring continuous improvement. This position requires expertise in manufacturing processes and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. The role is part-time, working four days a week from Monday to Thursday.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing manufacturing processes from concept through to commissioning and qualification
- Acting as the first point of contact for process queries within the team
- Managing process technical requirements and providing expertise in risk management processes
- Supporting the tendering process with engineering expertise
- Implementing Safe System of Work in line with company and statutory requirements
- Technical management of the commissioning and qualification process
- Supporting continuous improvement activities on existing products and processes
- Planning and introducing process changes in a controlled manner
Key Skills:
- Proven capability in developing manufacturing processes, including system integration in a defence and security context
- Experience in handling powders, liquids, or slurries through pressing, casting, or extrusion processes
- Desirable knowledge in materials technology or fluids
- Aptitude for learning and developing expertise in new subject areas where necessary
- Understanding of Non-Destructive Techniques (NDT) and Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Systems is beneficial
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
