This is a great opportunity for an experienced Process Commissioning Engineer to work for a reputable contractor on the United Utilities framework.

About The Role

The Process Commissioning Engineer plays a key role in delivering safe, compliant and efficient process commissioning across non-infrastructure projects.

Working within a business-wide commissioning framework, the role supports the translation of design intent into operational reality, ensuring assets perform as intended and meet regulatory and water quality requirements.

The role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle and the opportunity to develop within the business.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop and implement process commissioning plans, sequences, test scripts and acceptance criteria.
  • Support on-site process commissioning activities, including testing, optimisation, fault-finding and performance trials.
  • Apply safe systems of work and commissioning standards in line with business-wide framework.
  • Manage sampling, analysis, data interpretation and evidence collation to demonstrate compliance and performance.
  • Contribute to commissioning documentation, RAMS, ITPs, handover packs and regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, commissioning readiness reviews, FATs and site acceptance activities.
  • Work collaboratively with project managers, designers, operations teams and supply chain partners.

Skills

  • Experience or strong grounding in process commissioning within the water, wastewater or utilities sector.
  • Understanding of treatment processes, instrumentation, control systems and water quality requirements.
  • Awareness of the full project lifecycle and the role commissioning plays in successful outcomes.
  • Well-organised, safety-focused and able to manage multiple commissioning activities effectively.
  • Strong communication skills with confidence producing clear technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Degree (or working towards) in Process, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Water Hygiene and relevant site safety qualifications desirable.
