Summary: The Principal Registered Building Inspector will provide technical leadership to a team of Building Control Inspectors, ensuring compliance with legislation and regulatory standards in construction. This role involves managing various projects, conducting site inspections, and leading enforcement actions for non-compliant works. The position requires significant experience in Building Control and a comprehensive understanding of relevant regulations and construction techniques. The role is a temporary cover until May 2025, with potential for extension, and involves a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership to Building Control Inspectors.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, sustainability, and design regulations.
• Manage a range of projects, including plans examination and site inspections.
• Initiate and manage enforcement actions for non-compliant building works.
• Assess dangerous structures and implement remedial works as necessary.
• Supervise and manage the work of other Building Control team members.
• Contribute to the development of professional staff within the registration framework.
• Participate in an 'out of office hours' service for emergencies.
• Comply with Council policies and statutory requirements.

Key Skills:

• Full current UK driving licence.
• Membership in a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE, CIOB).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Building Control and the construction industry.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Building Regulations and legislation.
