Summary: The role of Interim Class 2F Principal Registered Building Inspector involves overseeing building control functions for a Local Authority, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out site inspections and plan checking, with a minimum of two days per week on site.
  • Respond to and investigate dangerous structures.
  • Undertake enforcement activities under the Building Regulations and the Building Act where required.
  • Supervise senior and junior surveyors as well as administrative staff within the service.
  • Deputise for the Building Control Manager when required.
  • Support the Building Control Manager in the implementation of BSR operational standards.
  • Assist with procedural improvements and service changes within Building Control.
  • Undertake plan checking and provide professional technical advice.

Key Skills:

  • A professional qualification from a recognised chartered institute with a specialism in Building Control.
  • Minimum Class 2F Registered Building Inspector status.
  • Chartered membership with one of the following professional bodies: CIOB, RICS, or CABE.
  • Strong experience in Building Control inspection, compliance, and enforcement.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and support operational service delivery.

Interim Class 2F Principal Registered Building Inspector

Location: Hybrid – Office based 1 day per week with site inspections across the district (minimum 2 days on site per week)

Contract: Interim 3 months rolling contract

We are seeking an experienced Interim Class 2F Principal Registered Building Inspector to support a Local Authority Building Control service. This is a key role responsible for delivering high-quality building control functions, ensuring compliance with the Building Regulations, and supporting the management and development of the service.

Main Responsibilities

  • Carry out site inspections and plan checking, with a minimum of two days per week on site.
