On behalf of Network Rail, we are looking for a Principal Project Planner for a 12 month contract possible extension which is a hybrid role so does require 3 days a week in the Leeds office.
Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU) is a programme of activities that is improving the railway between York and Manchester via Leeds and Huddersfield.
Stretching across the North of England between York and Manchester, this key 76-mile Transpennine railway serves 23 stations, crosses over and dips under 285 bridges and viaducts, passes through six miles of tunnels and crosses over 29 level crossings.
It is the largest railway upgrade in the country.
The programme runs across multiple control periods and will deliver transformational changes to the current railway.
Responsibilities
- Explain planning and scheduling outputs to non-planning personnel.
- Demonstrate leadership of teams and developing others.
- Work across complex / detailed programme for reporting purposes
- Railway design and delivery principles, experience in reading Railway Access box plans alongside schedules
- Early-stage project development (ES1-ES3) within the NR PACE lifecycle
- Work within the construction & delivery phase (ES4-ES8) within the NR PACE lifecycle
- Experience in stakeholder management at all levels across the business
- Work in integrating multiple schedules
Essential Skills
- Extensive experience working with train and freight operator projects
- Demonstration of Rail planning and scheduling experience
- Civils and engineering experience can also be considered alongside some rail planning
- Demonstrate an understanding of constructability of projects / programmes
- Membership of a relevant professional body and/or have a CPD established to attain membership
- Relevant successful experience in the management, planning and scheduling of delivering major construction/engineering projects.
- Relevant successful experience of proprietary software planning and scheduling tools
- Previous knowledge and expertise within the field of project resource management.
- Good information technology user skills.
- P6 primavera experience and skillset is essential
- Knowledge of automating schedule / project data
- Experience in Development of delivery strategies and developing delivery/ output schedules
- Experience in reviewing construction staging and providing feedback.
- Experience/Knowledge of reviewing Schedule Assurance narratives
Desirable Skills
- Experience in delivering Signalling and ETCS Projects
- Experience in Train Fitment projects
- Knowledge of Schedule Assurance Processes
- Knowledge of/experience in Network Rail's processes and systems.
- Knowledge of the TRU programme
