The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Principal Process Engineer to join a major nuclear programme supporting the development of a complex fuel transfer and storage project.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will provide technical leadership throughout the concept, preliminary and detailed design phases while ensuring the highest standards of nuclear safety and engineering excellence.
We would also welcome applications from these industries Nuclear, defence, chemicals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and other highly regulated process industries.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Lead and coordinate a team of process engineers to deliver project objectives in line with programme schedules and engineering requirements.
- Provide regular updates on technical progress, resource needs and delivery performance to project and engineering stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including project delivery, operations, commissioning, safety and engineering functions.
- Develop and evaluate engineering solutions throughout concept, preliminary and detailed design stages within a nuclear-regulated environment.
- Identify, assess and support the management of process hazards including hydrogen generation, corrosion, heat generation and material storage risks, while presenting technical solutions at design and assurance reviews.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
- Proven experience managing process engineering teams, including workload planning, resource allocation and technical leadership.
- Strong understanding of nuclear safety principles, safety case support and engineering substantiation requirements.
- Knowledge of process safety and hazard assessment methodologies such as HAZOP, with experience of identifying and controlling operational risks.
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills, with the ability to deliver clear engineering justifications and recommendations.
- Master's degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) and Chartered Engineer status through IChemE.
