Summary: The Principal Process Engineer will lead a team focused on the design of onshore Gas Processing Facilities, ensuring compliance with company and client standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of process engineers on projects, studies, and proposals.
- Execute the process engineering scope of work according to contract requirements.
- Ensure discipline quality, programme, and cost targets are met.
- Perform design work and check work by others in accordance with company procedures.
- Approve project deliverables when authorized by the Process Engineering Technical Authority.
- Represent Process Engineering in discussions and meetings with clients, vendors, and third parties.
- Develop discipline programme activities/deliverables and interdependencies.
- Plan for adequate resources and monitor/report design progress and man-hour usage.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams.
- Ensure compliance with company policy, legislation, and quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Key Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of the UK regulatory environment and industry codes for the Oil & Gas sector.
- Experience in the full project lifecycle, including significant FEED/EPC experience.
- Knowledge of Gas Processing Technology and Compression.
- Proficiency in process simulation and development of process design documentation.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Chartered Engineer preferred (MIChemE/FIChemE).

Overview The role requires the services of a Principal Process Engineer with extensive knowledge and experience in the design of onshore Gas Processing Facilities to lead the process team working on an allocated engineering design project. Part time attendance at the Clients Aberdeen Offices will be necessary. The role reports to the Process Discipline Manager and the Project Engineering Manager and is supported by the discipline Technical Authority.
Duties To lead a team of process engineers on projects, studies and proposals, to execute the process engineering scope of work according to contract requirements, in compliance with company and client standards and procedures. Responsibility for discipline quality, programme and cost targets. To perform own design work and check work by others in accordance with company procedures. To approve project deliverables when authorised by the Process Engineering Technical Authority. To represent Process Engineering in discussions and meetings with client, vendors and third parties. To develop discipline programme activities/deliverables and interdependencies, plan for adequate resources and to monitor and report design progress and man-hour usage to the project management team. To work in a collaborative multi-disciplinary project delivery team, through proactive liaison with other disciplines and to ensure integration of Process Engineering design requirements into the overall engineering design. To ensure personal compliance with current company policy, relevant legislation and company and client’s requirements for Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental matters and work in such a manner not to cause personal harm or injury to fellow workers, client and subcontractor employees or the environment.
Specific Competencies Required UK Regulatory environment Relevant industry codes, standards and guidelines for the Oil & Gas sector Experience in the full project lifecycle including significant FEED/EPC experience. Extensive knowledge and experience in Gas Processing Technology and Compression preferably gas reception gas treatment and/or underground gas storage plants. Process Simulation Development of the Process Design Basis and Scope of Work Development of Heat and Material Balances, Process Flow Diagrams, Process Design Philosophies and P&ID’s Sizing and specification of Process requirements for Unit Operations, Major Equipment Utility Equipment Equipment Packages Piping and Instrumentation Hazard Study including HAZID and HAZOP Functional Safety Management including SIL Classification using LOPA Relief and Blowdown calculations to company and industry standards Technical Risk Management Commercial Awareness Proactive, self-motivated and solutions biased Strong interpersonal skills Effective communicator Strong technical writing skills Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel First degree in Chemical Engineering.
