Summary: The Principal Oracle Database Administrator will play a crucial role in advancing the Trust's Data Warehousing and Cloud-first strategies while implementing a new Patient Administration System. This position requires a highly skilled individual with extensive technical knowledge of Oracle databases, capable of providing leadership and mentoring to junior staff. The successful candidate will collaborate with various teams to ensure the architecture, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle databases. This is a temporary role based at the City Hospital Campus in Nottingham.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in the architecture, maintenance, upgrading, and troubleshooting of Oracle databases.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of high and low-level designs for databases and their infrastructure.
  • Work closely with solution specialists, implementation teams, and external suppliers to define database solution needs.
  • Establish patterns and standards for consistency, resilience, security, and best practices in database operations.
  • Offer guidance and mentoring to junior staff and manage team leadership elements.

Key Skills:

  • Relevant IT degree at MSc level or above or equivalent technical qualification and experience.
  • Management/leadership qualification or training/experience.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in relevant versions of Oracle Database.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Oracle Database Administration.
  • Experience in PostgreSQL/MySQL database administration.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager and other Oracle tools.
  • Advanced performance tuning and optimization skills.
  • Experience in implementing backup and recovery strategies.
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
