Summary: The role of Principal Network Engineer involves providing technical ownership of the customer's security infrastructure and serving as a senior technical reference for security-related projects and incidents. The position requires SC clearance and entails a hybrid working arrangement, primarily remote with occasional travel. The engineer will be responsible for designing customer networks and managing changes, both physical and remote, while ensuring effective documentation and lifecycle management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical ownership of the customer's security infrastructure estate, processes, procedures, documentation, and lifecycle management.
  • Senior technical point of reference for all security-related projects and changes to firewall rule bases.
  • Interface into vendor support for all incidents related to the security infrastructure.
  • Design customer networks, including support for high-level and low-level designs.
  • Provide technical support and change management for hard (physical) and soft (remote) changes.
  • Manage customer inventory, including hardware, software, and end-of-life (EOL) considerations.

Key Skills:

  • Experience with Checkpoint, Juniper, Bluecoat, F5, and Cisco networking solutions.
  • Knowledge of major switching families and understanding of wireless technologies.
  • Familiarity with Cisco IPT, QoS, 802.1x, Inflobox DNS, and VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL VPN, DMVPN).
  • Understanding of wide area network technologies, including routing protocols.

Role: Security Engineering Authority - Principal Network Engineer

Job Type - Outside Ir35 Contract

Location: Warwick, UK

Mode Work: Hybrid – the vast majority of work is expected to be remote; however there may be occasional travel to customer sites.

Duration: 6 Months to start with

SC Clearance Required

Deliverables:

  • Technical Ownership of the Customers Security infrastructure estate, processes procedures, documentation and life cycle management contracted to Vodafone
  • Senior Technical point of reference for all Security related projects, Changes or modifications to firewall rule bases
  • Senior technical point of reference/escalation and interface into vendor support for all Incidence related to the security infrastructure.
  • Design of customer networks including the support of High Level and Low Level designs.
  • Providing technical support, , Change management, for hard (physical) and soft (remote) changes.
  • Customer inventory management, Hardware software, EOL.

Additional info: A nice to have for the candidate is detailed experience of supporting Checkpoint, Juniper, Bluecoat, F5 and knowledge of Cisco networking solutions including all the major switching families and understanding of Wireless Technologies and Cisco IPT /QoS /802.1x/ Inflobox DNS, VPN Technologies (ipsec, SSL VPN, DMVPN and Wide Area network technologies including routing protocols.
