Summary: The Principal Instrument Engineer will lead the Control & Instrumentation (C&I) engineering efforts for a Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) project focused on a hydrogen process plant. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and client interaction to ensure the project's success. The position is temporary, with a minimum duration of six months, based in Manchester. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing engineering documentation, project deliverables, and compliance with relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and instrument discipline input for FEED projects.
  • Prepare, review, and approve engineering documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Allocate tasks and manage project deliverables against timelines and budgets.
  • Oversee the procurement and specification of control systems, instrumentation, and analysers.
  • Ensure adherence to national and international codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Conduct technical bid assessments and supplier evaluations.
  • Lead safety case preparation, including cybersecurity verification and validation activities.
  • Support installation planning for instrumentation in potentially explosive environments.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (or close to achieving it).
  • Extensive knowledge of UK legislation and standards relevant to process plant engineering.
  • Competency in instrumentation installation for hazardous areas.
  • Strong problem-solving and leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
