Summary: The Principal Finance Officer role is an interim position within a Local Authority in Sussex, focusing on financial management and service delivery. The officer will be responsible for advising clients on financial decisions, managing budgets, and overseeing accounting arrangements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the council's Fixed Asset Register and Fixed Asset Revaluation Programme for the council's financial statements.
  • Lead on IFRS 16 from the financial statements perspective.
  • Lead on the SAP Control Environment, including maintenance of General Ledger.
  • Lead on support to External Audit.

Key Skills:

  • Thorough and authoritative understanding of technical theories, issues and related principles in a specialist professional area.
  • Relevant chartered status of a professional body e.g. CIPFA or equivalent high level experience of involved practices.

Principal Finance Officer

A Local Authority in Sussex are looking to appoint a talented Principal Finance Officer on an Interim basis, are working with Spencer Clarke Group to find a successful candidate.

What's on offer:

  • Rates: £24 - £32 per hour, inside IR35.

About the role - Hybrid / Sussex

Responsible for advising and influencing clients to ensure informed financial decisions and sound financial arrangements with a high direct impact on financial management and service delivery. Including setting budgets and managing overall accounting arrangements, providing guidance as the key representative for the service area or activity.
