Summary: The Principal Engineer - Temporary Works role involves leading the design and delivery of complex temporary works for gas and energy infrastructure projects. This position requires a Chartered Engineer to provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with relevant standards. The role is hybrid, allowing for a combination of office and home working, and is outside IR35. The contract duration is 12 months, with a competitive daily rate based on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and technical review of temporary works solutions.
- Provide engineering governance and ensure compliance with BS 5975, Eurocodes and relevant British Standards.
- Act as the senior technical authority for complex temporary works projects.
- Support and mentor junior engineers, developing the team's capability.
- Work closely with clients, project teams and construction teams to deliver safe, practical and buildable solutions.
- Drive best practice in temporary works design, risk management and engineering compliance.
Key Skills:
- Chartered Engineer (CEng).
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Extensive experience in temporary works design and management.
- Strong knowledge of BS 5975, Eurocodes and British Standards.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Experience within hydrocarbon or energy infrastructure is highly desirable.

We're looking for a Chartered Principal Temporary Works Engineer to join a growing Energy team, leading the design and delivery of complex temporary works across gas and energy infrastructure projects.
This is a key technical leadership role where you'll provide engineering assurance, mentor a developing team and help expand our in-house capability, reducing reliance on external consultants for high-value temporary works projects.
