Summary: The Principal EC&I Engineer role is a 6-month contract position based in Staffordshire, focusing on the delivery of electrical control and instrumentation hardware solutions in regulated environments. Key Responsibilities:
- Take technical ownership and lead delivery of EC&I hardware solutions including electrical control systems, control panels, and associated safety systems.
- Oversee and mentor EC&I engineers, supporting problem-solving and driving best practice across the team.
- Conduct detailed reviews of AutoCAD Electrical Drawings to ensure technical correctness and quality.
- Act as the technical authority on projects, providing leadership, guidance, and assurance across EC&I engineering activities.
- Design and develop Safety System Electrical Panels in compliance with IEC 61508 functional safety standards.
- Work in highly regulated industries such as Defence, Nuclear, Medical, Rail Safety, or Aviation.
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of EC&I design principles including electrical schematics, control panel design, equipment selection, and compliance.
- Experience in designing and developing Safety System Electrical Panels.
- Ability to mentor and lead a team of engineers.
- Proficiency in reviewing AutoCAD Electrical Drawings.
- Experience in regulated industries.
- British passport holder with a minimum of five years residency in the UK.

- Experience of designing and developing Safety System Electrical Panels in compliance with IEC 61508 functional safety standards.
- Successful Principal EC&I Engineer will conduct detailed reviews of AutoCAD Electrical Drawings to ensure technical correctness and quality.
- Act as the technical authority on projects, providing leadership, guidance and assurance across EC&I engineering activities
- Previous experience working in a highly regulated industry such as Defence, Nuclear, Medical, Rail Safety or Aviation
- You must be a British passport holder and have lived in the UK for at least the last 5 years, as security clearance will be required if not already held
- The role will involve being office based on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday and working from home on Mondays and Fridays.
- The client’s offices are easily commutable from Stoke, Stafford, Cannock, Lichfield, Telford, Uttoxeter and Stone.
