Summary: This role is for a Principal Designer (CDM) responsible for leading health and safety compliance on complex construction projects in Birmingham. The position requires embedding safety-by-design principles throughout the pre-construction and delivery phases. The contract is for 6 months, with a requirement of 2–3 days per week on-site. The role is classified as inside IR35 with a daily rate of £600.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as Principal Designer under CDM 2015, planning, managing, and coordinating health & safety during the pre-construction phase to ensure full legal compliance.
- Leading design risk management activities, including HAZID reviews, risk elimination and mitigation, and ensuring designers meet their CDM duties.
- Coordinating closely with Principal Contractors, designers, engineers, and clients to embed safety throughout design and construction phases.
- Advising clients on their CDM responsibilities, maintaining robust compliance documentation, and promoting a strong, proactive safety culture.
