Summary: The Principal Civil & Structural Engineer role at px Engineering Consultants Limited involves providing technical expertise in civil and structural engineering for various projects, particularly in the chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and power generation industries. Key Responsibilities:

  • Be conversant / comply with UK Legislation, Company Rules, procedures and instructions, contributing to appropriate procedural and system updates.
  • Provide technical expertise for the specification, design, purchase, installation and commissioning within the Civil and Structural discipline areas.
  • Provide on-going technical support to operations and maintenance departments for problems within the engineering discipline.
  • Produce, review and understand associated documentation relating to the design, installation and operation within the discipline area.
  • Assist in developing solutions to technical issues, budget considerations, project schedules and safety with a project in support of project objectives.
  • Lead the production of general arrangement and detail drawings, reinforcement drawings, 3D models, schedules and/or specifications within discipline area, ensuring compliance with company procedures and all relevant standards.
  • Support the development and implement engineering procedures, work instructions, standards and guidance documents as applicable.
  • Support the development of proposal and delivery for new business opportunities, including due diligence, consultancy and site mobilisation.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant engineering discipline.
  • Relevant engineering design experience in the delivery of minor modifications and supporting projects during the full life-cycle including Pre-FEEDs, FEEDs and EPC phases within the chemicals, petrochemicals, oil and gas, and power generation industries.
  • Experience working within the procurement life-cycle including specification, enquiry & post order support (equipment and sub-contracts).
  • Can demonstrate full appreciation of best practice in design assurance, including competence management, checking/ approval processes, management of technical change, design and safety reviews.
  • Experience using Tekla TEDDS, Tekla TSD and Autodesk ROBOT structural analysis software is desirable.

The Opportunity We are currently expecting an increase in workload due to a significant project win, which will create up to 3 years work for an experienced Civil and Structural Engineer.
