Summary: The Principal Accountant role within a Local Authority involves leading the preparation and monitoring of Council budgets, ensuring the accurate production of statutory Final Accounts, and advising senior officers on financial decisions. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation and monitoring of Council budgets.

Key Skills:
- CCAB qualification (or significant relevant experience with part-qualification).
- A deep understanding of public sector finance and legislative codes.
- Strong analytical, IT, and spreadsheet skills.
- Excellent communication – able to translate complex financial data into clear advice.
- Experience managing people and projects.
