Summary: The Principal Accountant role at a Local Authority in Bradford involves providing comprehensive financial services to Directors and their management teams. The position requires preparing financial reports, ensuring accurate and timely information, and promoting effective financial service delivery. The role also includes managing staff and deputizing for the Finance Business Partner as needed. This is a hybrid working position on a 3-month contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Finance Business Partner to provide financial services to Directors and managers.
  • Prepare financial reports for Directors and management teams.
  • Consolidate reports into revenue monitor reports for the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and relevant information is provided, linking it to performance information.
  • Identify business solutions while embedding best value and risk management principles.
  • Develop and promote effective financial service delivery methods.
  • Contribute to the Finance Business Partnering Team.
  • Manage, lead, and motivate staff providing high-level financial advice.
  • Deputize for the Finance Business Partner as required.

Key Skills:

  • Previous Public Sector experience.
  • CCAB qualified or Part Qualified.
  • Strong financial reporting skills.
  • Ability to provide accurate and timely financial information.
  • Leadership and staff management skills.
  • Understanding of best value and risk management principles.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
