Summary: The Interim Principal Accountancy Assistant role involves supporting the Principal Accountant with year-end closedown processes and capital accounting, particularly in relation to IFRS16. Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Principal Accountant in the year-end closedown and preparation of notes to the statement of accounts, focusing on capital accounting for property, plant and equipment and leases, including IFRS16.
- Ensuring compliance with all legislation and relevant guidance.
- Assisting in the implementation of IFRS16 accounting arrangements across the authority.
- Preparing capital expenditure and capital financing year-end working papers and journals.
- Maintaining records in scope of IFRS16 and liaising with stakeholders regarding leased properties and equipment.
- Conducting balance sheet reconciliations and accounting for capital receipts.
Key Skills:
- Fully qualified with the Association of Accounting Technicians or equivalent Level 4 qualification including Finance and Management modules.
- Experience in the public sector, preferably local government.
- Knowledge of the CIPA Code and accounting regulations related to capital assets and leasing.
- Familiarity with IFRS16 and experience in its implementation is advantageous.
- Ability to deliver financial advice and guidance to diverse audiences and analyze complex financial information under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
