Summary: We are seeking three highly motivated Powertrain Engineers to join our Engineering team at Norton, a historic British motorcycle brand, on a six-month contract. The role involves designing, modeling, and detailing powertrain components using CAD software, particularly for high-performance motorcycles. Candidates should possess strong mechanical design skills and experience with 3D CAD software, specifically Creo. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative motorcycle technologies in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings of powertrain components (e.g., engine cases, cylinder heads, crankshafts, transmission gears, covers, intakes and exhausts)
- Create assemblies and integrate them into complete motorcycle models, ensuring compatibility and packaging feasibility
- Support the design and development of internal combustion engines and hybrid/electric powertrains
- Perform tolerance stack-ups, material selection, and design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, testing, procurement, and vehicle integration
- Conduct design reviews and implement feedback from simulation, validation, and prototype testing
- Maintain CAD libraries and adhere to CAD standards and revision control processes
- Liaise with suppliers for part feasibility, manufacturability, and cost optimisation
- Document and manage design changes through engineering change processes
Key Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 3+ years of CAD design experience in the automotive or motorcycle industry
- Proficiency with PTC Creo
- Strong understanding of powertrain systems and mechanical design principles
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

The successful candidates' will be responsible for designing, modelling, and detailing powertrain components using CAD software. This includes engines, transmissions, and related sub-systems. The ideal candidates' will have strong mechanical design skills, experience with 3D CAD software Creo, and a passion for high-performance motorcycles.
