Summary: The role of HVDC Power Systems Engineer involves working with a leading engineering organization on complex HVDC projects, focusing on the design and analysis of advanced HVDC systems. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze advanced HVDC systems.
- Conduct simulations using PSCAD and EMTDC.
- Utilize MATLAB/Simulink for power system studies.
- Deliver RMS/stability studies and AC/DC interaction analysis.
- Perform electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies.
- Develop and validate detailed simulation models.

HVDC Power Systems Engineer – PSCAD / EMTDC / MATLAB (Contract) We’re supporting a leading engineering organisation delivering complex HVDC projects and are looking for experienced Power Systems Engineers with strong simulation and design expertise. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale transmission projects, contributing to the design and analysis of advanced HVDC systems.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in HVDC system design
- Strong capability in PSCAD / EMTDC simulations
- Proficiency in MATLAB / Simulink
- Experience delivering power system studies, including:
- RMS / stability studies
- AC/DC interaction analysis
- Electromagnetic transient (EMT) studies
- Background in control & protection (C&P) or converter systems (VSC / LCC)
- Ability to develop and validate detailed simulation models
Desirable Experience
- Experience on HVDC, offshore wind, or large-scale grid connection projects
- Exposure to system integration and grid compliance challenges
- Background working with OEMs or engineering consultancies
