Summary: The Power BI Developer role involves delivering robust Power BI solutions to support business teams in achieving their commercial and operational goals. The position requires collaboration with stakeholders to design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models. The developer will also enhance BI processes and provide best-practice advice aligned with the company's data strategy. This is a contract position with hybrid working arrangements based in Basingstoke.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with stakeholders to respond to data queries, troubleshoot issues, and gather user requirements that support future BI solutions.
• Design and develop future BI solutions (Power BI semantic models and reports), ensuring they maximize business value.
• Provide story point estimates for development work within sprint planning activities.
• Define clear documentation of final solutions for output portability.
• Proactively identify opportunities for Power BI to enhance existing reporting.
• Develop and enhance robust BI processes including development, peer review, testing, and release.
• Support UX design of new reports and templates for a visually strong appearance.
• Provide best-practice advice for Power BI artefacts in line with data strategy.
• Collaborate with the Data team and stakeholders to ensure data is accessible for self-service Power BI reports.
• Identify and escalate risks and issues with systems and data requirements.

Key Skills:

• 4 years' experience in building and maintaining Power BI reporting, dashboards, and semantic layers.
• Strong knowledge of Power BI, particularly in building semantic models with large data volumes.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Understanding of data models and data warehouse concepts, preferably with Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with modern user experience techniques, including audiences, personas, and user interface design.
• Able to structure challenges and generate insights from problems.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Collaborative mindset with a focus on achieving shared success.
• Experience engaging with stakeholders and suppliers in a complex enterprise environment.
