Summary: The Power BI Developer role involves delivering robust Power BI solutions for a national automotive company, focusing on supporting business teams in achieving their commercial and operational goals. Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with stakeholders to respond to data queries, troubleshoot issues, and gather user requirements that support future BI solutions.
  • Design and develop future BI solutions (Power BI semantic models and reports), ensuring they maximize business value.
  • Provide story point estimates for development work within sprint planning activities.
  • Define clear documentation of final solutions for output portability.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to enhance existing reporting with Power BI.
  • Develop and enhance robust BI processes including development, peer review, testing, and release.
  • Support UX design of new reports and templating for visual appeal.
  • Provide best-practice advice for Power BI artefacts in line with data strategy.
  • Work with the Data team and stakeholders to ensure data is structured and accessible for self-service reporting.
  • Identify and escalate risks and issues with systems and data requirements.

Key Skills:

  • 4 years' experience in building and maintaining reliable and scalable Power BI reporting, dashboards, and semantic layers.
  • Strong knowledge of Power BI, particularly in building semantic models with large data volumes.
  • Proficiency with SQL.
  • Understanding of data models and data warehouse concepts, preferably with Databricks and Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with modern user experience techniques, including audiences, personas, user stories, and UI design.
  • Strong problem-solving and insight generation skills.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative experience with stakeholders and suppliers in a complex enterprise organization.
