Summary: The Power BI Developer & Data Modelling Specialist will play a crucial role in a leading bank by designing high-quality Power BI datasets and developing scalable data models. This position involves delivering insightful dashboards, establishing a governed data ecosystem, and driving AI-enabled analytics capabilities. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective BI solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Power BI and banking experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop certified datasets, semantic models, and clear data lineage
- Establish a governed and trusted "Data Pillar" across the organisation
- Improve resilience, performance, and reliability of BI assets
- Design and build interactive dashboards and paginated reports
- Ensure high usability, accuracy, and visual clarity
- Create scalable Power BI data models and relationships
- Develop high-performance datasets in Power BI Service
- Transform data using Power Query (M) and SQL pipelines
- Write efficient, reusable DAX measures
- Implement time intelligence and complex business logic
- Enable AI-ready datasets for Copilot and Gen AI use cases
- Identify opportunities for automation, anomaly detection, and forecasting
- Leverage Power Automate to streamline workflows
- Optimise BI development using AI-assisted tooling
- Integrate Power BI with ServiceNow to surface dataset health and ownership
- Standardise development practices (templates, CI/CD, testing, documentation)
- Manage Power BI Service (workspaces, refresh, monitoring, performance)
- Translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions
- Work closely with engineers, SMEs, and product teams
- Document models, logic, and data lineage clearly
Key Skills:
- Must have experience working in a bank
- Strong expertise in Power BI (Desktop & Service), DAX, and Power Query (M)
- Solid SQL skills (joins, CTEs, window functions)
- Experience with data modelling and data warehousing principles
- Proven experience building ETL/data pipelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication - able to simplify complex data concepts
- Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
- Familiarity with ServiceNow, particularly GRC data

We are currently recruiting for a Power BI developer to join a leading bank and play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation's data landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to design robust BI foundations, deliver impactful insights, and lead the evolution toward AI-ready reporting.
You will be responsible for designing high-quality Power BI datasets, developing scalable data models, and delivering insightful dashboards that support critical business processes.
