Summary: The PMO Lead role at A2Dominion involves leading the PMO function to enhance governance and delivery of a diverse change portfolio. The position requires strong leadership and expertise in portfolio management frameworks to ensure effective project oversight and alignment with strategic objectives. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in optimizing resource allocation and maintaining high-quality data across the PMO. This is a 6-month fixed-term contract based in London with hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the PMO function, embedding a new portfolio management framework and establishing consistent ways of working across the organisation’s entire change portfolio.
- Oversee portfolio governance, ensuring compliance with standards, robust controls, and high-quality reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain the integrated portfolio plan, consolidating data from subsidiary project plans and producing accurate reporting products.
- Oversee portfolio prioritisation, tracking progress, escalating risks and issues, and ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Manage portfolio resource planning and allocation, working closely with business teams and development teams to optimise the operating model.
- Maintain PMO tools, templates, documentation, and guidance, ensuring project teams meet PMO standards and use required processes.
- Provide advice, coaching, and assurance to Project Managers, sponsors and project teams, supporting consistent delivery.
- Manage the full change control process, progressing change requests through governance and maintaining the change register.
- Ensure high-quality data across the PMO by maintaining data lineage, glossaries and dictionaries; enforcing data entry standards; monitoring quality metrics; and resolving data issues.
- Work with the Data Governance Team to implement validation rules and meet governance expectations.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience managing and operating a PMO function.
- Experience in the social housing or local authority sector in a similar role (desirable but not essential).
- Deep understanding of portfolio, programme and project management practices.
- Experience implementing and managing governance frameworks.
- Leadership and coaching experience within PMO or project environments.
- Experience in people, process and technology change projects.
- Knowledge of industry-standard project methodologies.
- Degree in a relevant subject (desirable, not essential).
- Prince2 Practitioner qualification (desirable).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and contract management systems.
- Hands-on leadership style with ability to motivate and develop teams.
