On behalf of The Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade, we are looking for a PMO Lead (Inside IR35) for a 3 Month (until end of December 2026) contract based in London (2 days per week on site).

Description:

Working within the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade on AI Growth Zones Electricity Support Scheme (AIGZ ESS) we have an immediate requirement for a PMO Lead. AIGZ ESS aims to reduce electricity costs for eligible AI Growth Zones data centres if they locate in Scotland, Northeast England or Cumbria where there is an abundant supply of renewable electricity, and drive efficiency in the electricity system.

As a PMO Lead, your main responsibilities will be:

The PMO Lead is tasked with ensuring the timely and successful delivery of AIGZ ESS by coordinating all workstreams and aligning the programme with overall organisational goals and strategy. The PMO Lead is also responsible for ensuring that the project meets governance and assurance requirements and achieves project aims by:

  • Establishing and coordinating governance and assurance, complying to departmental requirements assigned by portfolio.
  • Developing and maintain project controls including project tools, reporting and frameworks to support delivery of the scheme.
  • Supporting the workstreams in achieving their objectives for the AIGZ ESS, including capturing lessons learned during the project lifecycle.

Essential: Experience of the following:

  • Leading the successful delivery of projects within budget, time, quality and user expectations across the whole project life cycle, tailoring their approach and applying the appropriate frameworks, methodologies, standards, tools and techniques.
  • Active management of project plans, risks, issues, dependencies, and assumptions. Identifying threats and opportunities that arise, understanding their impact on key objectives - taking the appropriate approach to their management.
  • Supporting decision-making by identifying, interpreting, analysing, and presenting information. Specifically providing detailed insightful reporting and clear briefings on complex issues to senior stakeholders and chairing boards within a formal governance framework.
  • Management of a complex workload. Using innovative approaches and personal resilience to respond quickly and decisively to changing and challenging priorities and deadlines to deliver valued outcomes.
  • Formal project management qualification or demonstratable experience.
