Summary: The PMLD Home Tutor role involves providing personalized educational support to a young person with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and sensory needs in their home environment. The tutor will work one-on-one to facilitate learning and help the student progress academically. Prior experience with students who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is essential, along with a creative approach to teaching. The position requires excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting vulnerable young people.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working 1:1 with students who have various special educational needs
- Travelling to schools, libraries, and students' homes to complete 1-2 hour bookings
- Understanding and appreciating the needs of vulnerable young people and those with SEND
- Implementing positive behaviour strategies and helping children self-regulate emotions
- Maintaining excellent written communication and reporting
- Demonstrating excellent timekeeping and reliability
Key Skills:
- QTS preferable or a Degree with previous tutoring experience
- Experience working with SEND / SEBD / SEMH students
- Highly ambitious and enthusiastic
- Ability to work with a creative approach to the curriculum
- Capability to manage behaviour and set firm and clear boundaries
- Ability to motivate learners
- Patience and motivational skills
