Summary: The role of Infrastructure Platform Engineer is a 3-month contract based in Manchester, requiring expertise in designing and managing scalable and secure platform solutions. The position involves overseeing cloud and on-premise environments, ensuring optimal performance and security, and automating infrastructure management using IaC tools. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage the infrastructure for scalable and secure platform solutions.
- Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud and on-premise environments.
- Ensure optimal performance, availability, and security of the platform infrastructure.
- Administer and support systems such as servers, storage, networking, and databases.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and management through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Support monitoring and troubleshooting of infrastructure-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with teams to assess infrastructure requirements, providing tailored solutions to meet business needs.
- Regularly update and patch systems to maintain compliance with security and performance standards.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or in a similar role focusing on platform engineering and infrastructure management.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid cloud architectures.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with provisioning, managing, and scaling virtualised environments, servers, and storage.
- Familiarity with networking protocols, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Solid understanding of system monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios).
- Experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration.
- Proficiency with Linux-based systems and shell scripting (Bash, Python).
- Ability to manage infrastructure security, patching, and access controls.
