Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and operation of software through tools, environments, and practices.
  • Utilize engineering experience to enhance the Agency's Logging Monitoring and Alerting implementation of ELK.
  • Configure and maintain large Elastic clusters.
  • Work with large data sets and implement elastic indexing best practices.
  • Manage and tune performance of the Elasticsearch environment.
  • Write data ingestion pipelines using Logstash and other big data technologies.

Key Skills:

  • Broad experience in software development, infrastructure engineering, and operations.
  • Strong expertise in Elastic, Logstash, and Kibana.
  • Experience with large Elastic clusters and data sets.

*Platform Engineer, will require onsite working in Scotland*

The Senior Cloud Engineer will have broad experience of software development, infrastructure engineering and operations and will understand the goals and strategy behind each project from conception through completion. They will support the development and operation of software through tools, environments and practices and are responsible for underpinning good development processes.
This ELK SME adaptation utilises engineering experience as the base skill set but also extends into strong Elastic, Logstash and Kibana experience, allowing change and improvement within the Agency's Logging Monitoring and Alerting implementation of ELK.
The role requires a dynamic, highly motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure, and have well developed problem solving skills. You must be an excellent team player, quick learner and self-starter dedicated to maintaining high quality standards.
Experience of configuring and maintaining large Elastic clusters
Experience working with large data sets and elastic indexing best practices.
Good understanding on Visualisation components and techniques in Elasticsearch.
Proven experience in performance management and tuning of Elasticsearch environment.
Strong experience in writing data ingestion pipelines using Logstash and other big data technologies.
