Summary: The Platform Engineer / DevOps Engineer role involves supporting secure, scalable cloud-native systems for a public sector client, with a focus on CI/CD, infrastructure, and reliability. The position requires strong Python development skills and experience with AWS and Terraform. The role is contract-based for 6 months, with a requirement to be on-site in Leeds once a fortnight. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop secure software in complex environments.
- Engage in cloud-native development, preferably with AWS.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support product teams with cloud and platform engineering.
- Conduct incident investigation and support.
- Implement 'shift-left' security practices, including static and dynamic analysis.
- Participate in an on-call rota (1 in 6).
Key Skills:
- Strong Python development experience at the application level.
- AWS/cloud development and architecture experience.
- Experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tooling, such as GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of Secure Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) principles.
- Experience with observability/monitoring tools (nice to have).
- Ability to evangelize platform and DevOps best practices.
- Experience in building reusable, scalable IaC and CI solutions.
- Understanding of how to scale impact within DevOps/platform teams.

My client is a global leading IT consultancy. They are seeking a Platform/DevOps Engineer to join a public sector client of theirs, to support secure, scalable cloud-native systems, focusing on CI/CD, infrastructure, and reliability.
Key Experience:
- Developing secure software in complex environments
- Cloud-native development (AWS preferred)
- Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Acting as an SME to support product teams with cloud and platform engineering
- Incident investigation and support
- Implementing 'shift-left' security practices (e.g. static/dynamic analysis)
Must Have:
