Summary: The Planning Ecologist role involves coordinating and delivering various ecology projects in the Solihull area until November 2025. The position requires collaboration with statutory bodies and NGOs to enhance nature conservation efforts while providing technical advice and conducting ecological surveys. The role includes hybrid working with necessary site visits and participation in a multi-disciplinary team within development services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver ecology projects within time scales, budget parameters, and quality objectives.
- Liaise with statutory bodies, non-government organizations, and relevant stakeholders for nature conservation initiatives.
- Provide specialist advice on ecological issues, conduct surveys, and write reports.
- Support the work of others across the organization.
Key Skills:
- Mandated biodiversity net gain experience.
- Experience in appraising developments.
- Experience in assessing sites for legally protected species.
- Planning experience.
- Qualifications: Associate or member of CIE, degree or qualification in Ecology.
- Knowledge of protected species license is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and GIS.
