Summary: The Physical Substation Designer role involves creating and modifying detailed 2D and 3D designs for electrical substations. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure project specifications are met and operational support is provided. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Autodesk is essential for drafting and modeling tasks. The role emphasizes adherence to safety standards and effective project coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and modify scaled 2D drawings and 3D models for electrical substations.
- Develop physical design packages, including Foundation Layouts, Grounding Layouts, Conduit Layouts, Switchgear Assembly Layouts, Substation Layouts, Switch House Layouts, and Electrical Bus Design.
- Utilize AutoCAD, Autodesk 3D Inventor, Autodesk Map 3D (P4A), or SDS Inventor for drafting and modeling.
- Prepare engineering specifications and material requirements.
- Transmit drawing packages using the Transmission Engineering job transmittal program.
- Coordinate with engineers, field services, construction teams, and project management.
- Collaborate with manufacturers, vendors, and committees to resolve equipment and material concerns.
- Participate in project site visits, including pre-construction meetings, construction phases, and post-construction reviews.
- Support OPCO Substation Construction, Field Services, Project Management, and Maintenance teams.
- Ensure all design work aligns with standards and safety practices.
Key Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Autodesk software.
- Experience in creating 2D and 3D designs for electrical substations.
- Strong understanding of engineering specifications and material requirements.
