Key Responsibilities:
- Building and maintaining backend functionality using PHP and Laravel
- Developing a new internal admin & back-office application supporting core business operations
- Refactoring and improving functionality within a large legacy codebase
- Supporting the migration from a bespoke system toward modern frameworks, patterns, and standards
- Collaborating closely with a hands-on Technical Lead and CTO on long-term architectural decisions
- Ensuring software works cohesively with existing hardware and operational constraints
- Writing clean, maintainable, well-documented code
- Identifying technical debt, risks, and improvement opportunities
- Troubleshooting, optimizing performance, and resolving issues in production and non-production environments
Key Skills:
- Strong commercial experience with PHP and Laravel
- Experience working with legacy systems, including refactoring and staged modernization
- Solid understanding of backend architecture, MVC, and RESTful APIs
- Experience building internal tools/admin or back-office systems
