Summary: The Pharmacy Procurement & Homecare Administrator will be integral to the procurement team, responsible for placing orders for medicines and ensuring accurate invoicing within the pharmacy department. The role requires collaboration with pharmacy staff to maintain efficient procurement and homecare services while adhering to national guidelines. The administrator will also manage stock issues and communicate effectively with healthcare professionals regarding supply challenges. This position is based at Shotley Bridge Community Hospital and is a permanent, full-time role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place orders for medicines and ensure timely invoicing reconciliation on the pharmacy computer system.
  • Work closely with the Senior Pharmacy Procurement and Homecare Technician and pharmacy team members.
  • Utilize the Pharmacy Ordering System for timely ordering and receipt of medicines.
  • Follow up on outstanding orders to minimize stock shortages and communicate stock problems effectively.
  • Process and reconcile invoices in line with agreed procedures for timely payment.
  • Handle telephone inquiries and provide information regarding products or services as needed.
  • Challenge requests for non-formulary items and support other staff in procurement processes.

Key Skills:

  • Experience working in a team and dealing with people under pressure.
  • Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of stock management and pharmacy operations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to work methodically.
  • Qualifications in English and Maths (Grade C and above) or equivalent.
  • Desirable: IT qualification, NHS Purchasing Knowledge, and relevant certificates in Pharmacy Service Skills and Business Administration.
