Summary: The Performance Manager for Rail in London is responsible for enhancing the Right Time performance of train services through leadership and structured performance audits. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including Network Rail, to investigate and resolve performance issues. The successful candidate will chair forums, develop business cases, and report on performance improvements. Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with all functions within the client to deliver a high profile for Right Time performance within the company
  • Work directly with Network Rail and Delivery Unit level to ensure all performance matters are investigated and resolved
  • Chair regular cross-functional Right Time Railway Forums to develop performance improvement plans leading to business cases to access the Right Time Railway Fund
  • Own the development of all Right Time Business Cases for submission to the client’s Performance Executive for approval
  • Report to the clients Performance Executive on progress on all Right Time performance improvement plans
  • Lead risk identification workshops with both the client and Network Rail colleagues
  • Undertake a pre-defined programme of “Performance Audits” at stations, depots, control, signal boxes, etc to ensure full awareness of Right Time matters as well as identifying areas for improvement and possible business cases
  • Chair twice weekly conference calls with local managers to investigate recent performance incidents
  • Attend weekly sessions at the appropriate Network Rail Delivery Unit to fully understand root cause of recent performance incidents
  • Assist the HQ Performance team with the resolution of internal attribution issues and disputes
  • Ensure that regular site visits and cab rides are carried out on the route and results fed back
  • Undertake on call duties as required

Key Skills:

  • Good standard of general education
  • At least 5 years Operational rail experience desirable
  • Extensive knowledge or use of Power BI reporting
  • Ability to challenge and advise in a fair and constructive manner
  • Sound knowledge of operating procedure
  • Personal Track Safety Certificate (desirable)
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Well organised and ability to prioritise workloads

Performance Manager – Rail  London 6 Month Contract  Circa £55,000 per annum We are seeking a knowledgeable rail professional to work with a train operator to be responsible and accountable for improving the Right Time performance for all the clients’ services. The successful candidate will lead a Right Time railway forum and undertake a structured programme of performance audits and out of hours visits.

  • Work with all functions within the client to deliver a high profile for Right Time performance within the company
  • Work directly with Network Rail and Delivery Unit level to ensure all performance matters are investigated and resolved
  • Chair regular cross-functional Right Time Railway Forums to develop performance improvement plans leading to business cases to access the Right Time Railway Fund
  • Own the development of all Right Time Business Cases for submission to the client’s Performance Executive for approval
  • Report to the clients Performance Executive on progress on all Right Time performance improvement plans
  • Lead risk identification workshops with both the client and Network Rail colleagues

  • Ensure that regular site visits and cab rides are carried out on the route and results fed back to enable a thorough and up to date understanding of the prevailing operational conditions and constraints of the route
  • Undertake on call duties as required
