Key Responsibilities:
- Work proactively with the business to deliver a tailored learning offer.
- Lead ongoing learning needs analysis and design high-quality learning initiatives.
- Facilitate People Development activities, including induction and cultural masterclasses.
- Promote and encourage a learning culture throughout the organization.
- Ensure development of learning activities aligned to the learning lifecycle.
Key Skills:
- CIPD Level 3 and/or alternative L&D certification or relevant work experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in designing and delivering training initiatives.
- Strong facilitation skills for engaging audiences.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems and digital learning solutions.
- Advanced IT skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

People Development Specialists are responsible for helping Great Places embed a colleague-led learning culture where continuous development is prioritised at all levels. Supporting the delivery of development initiatives and activities through our Academy of Greatness, you will work closely with their designated business areas to ensure all colleagues have access to a wide range of relevant and high-quality learning opportunities to enhance personal and organisational effectiveness.
What you’ll be doing
- To work proactively with the business, to ensure the delivery of a tailored learning offer that fits the current and future needs of the teams you are supporting.
- To lead on the ongoing learning needs analysis for their business area, helping to identify additional learning requirements to and design and deliver high quality, impactful and engaging learning initiatives for face-to-face, blended, or online delivery.
- To lead on the design and development of various training interventions which stem from learning requirements within a business area, the broader organisation or as part of our central People Development offer (Academy of Greatness).
- To facilitate People Development activities covering both soft skills and technical training. This includes our induction day; ‘The Great Welcome’ and ‘Great Conversations’ which is our cultural masterclass on how to build trust and connection between colleagues and our customers.
- Proactively promote and encourage a learning culture throughout the organisation.
- To ensure the development of learning activities aligned to the learning lifecycle, including design, promotion, delivery, assessment, and full evaluation of a variety of learning and development programmes spanning from induction to change projects.
What you’ll need
- CIPD Level 3 and/or alternative L&D certification OR we may consider relevant work experience within a busy HR & L&D function.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Experience of designing and/or delivering a range of training initiatives to colleagues at all levels - ranging from bite-sized sessions to in-depth learning programmes.
- Experience of conducting, or has contributed to, a full training needs analysis and evaluation of those solutions.
- Strong facilitation skills virtually and in person that engage and challenge the audience to stretch and develop their capabilities.
- Experience of utilising and embedding digital learning solutions
- It is essential you have experience of navigating and administrating a Learning platform or Learning Management System.
- Strong IT skills; able to perform at an advanced level, on Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
