Location: Birmingham - James House (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises of a mix of office and home working)

Contract Type: Temporary

Salary Package: £ 23.809

Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday

Role Purpose

The PDI Engineer is responsible for assembling, configuring, and preparing multifunction printers and associated peripherals for customer use. This role ensures that printers are safely built, tested, configured, and prepared for despatch.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly & Installation
    • Unbox printers and associated peripherals (feeders, scanners, finishers, toners) and dispose of waste packaging safely.
    • Lift and position printers onto feeders (minimum 3-person lift, ideally 4).
    • Connect printers to feeders, scanners, and attaching internal cables and components.
    • Carry out low-level work such as kneeling to access and connect components.
  • Testing & Configuration
    • Power up and test completed units to ensure correct operation.
    • Configure printers (PDI process) to required specifications.
  • Despatch Preparation
    • Wrap and secure printers for safe transportation.
    • Complete any necessary admin or system updates to record job completion.
  • Health & Safety & Compliance
    • Follow SCC’s health & safety policies, including manual handling procedures.
    • Ensure workspace remains clean, safe, and organised.
    • Escalate any equipment faults or build issues to management.
