Summary: The Payroll Manager role in Belfast is a maternity cover position responsible for managing the outsourced payroll contract for a group of three companies, overseeing payroll for 1000 staff. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and involves liaising with external agencies while ensuring effective payroll controls and reporting. The successful candidate will also handle month-end reconciliations and payroll-related projects. This position reports to the Group Financial Controller and is integral to the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the outsourced payroll contract for 1000 weekly and monthly staff across three companies.
- Act as the key point of contact with the payroll provider and drive improvements in payroll processing and reporting.
- Ensure effective payroll controls and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Handle all aspects of payroll-related financial control, including month-end reconciliations and payroll reports.
- Keep up to date with legislative changes and liaise with external agencies such as pension providers, auditors, and HMRC.
Key Skills:
- Educated to GCSE level.
- 2 A-levels or 5 years' payroll experience.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a large complex payroll function.
- Experience with computerised payroll systems.
- Working knowledge of UK PAYE.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- CIPP qualification is an advantage.
- SAGE payroll qualification and SAGE 50 payroll experience are beneficial.
