Key Responsibilities:

- Handle statutory documentation such as AEOs, tax notices, and student loans
- Manage sickness absence and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, SAP, ShPP)
- Calculate and process final payments including holiday accruals and deductions
- Respond to payroll queries promptly and professionally
- Process manual or out-of-cycle payments when required
- Liaise with HMRC, pension providers, and other third parties
- Perform payroll reconciliations and maintain compliance with legislation
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function
- Provide cover for colleagues during absence and assist with expense processing
Key Skills:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience managing end-to-end payroll for a large workforce (1,600+ employees)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proactive, hands-on approach with strong organisational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Experience with Access Select HR and Select Pay (desirable)
- Familiarity with rota systems such as CareSys, PeoplePlanner, or Care Cloud (desirable)
- Understanding of LMS/E-learning systems (desirable)
