Summary: The Payroll Administrator role involves managing end-to-end payroll processing for a diverse client base within a high-volume bureau environment. The position requires expertise in payroll legislation and software, along with strong communication skills to provide excellent client service. This is a full-time, 9-month fixed-term contract based in Renfrewshire, Scotland. The successful candidate will take ownership of their own client portfolio and ensure compliance with payroll regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for weekly, four-weekly, and monthly payrolls
  • Administer pension auto-enrolment and ensure compliance with current legislation
  • Act as the main point of contact for client payroll queries, delivering excellent service
  • Provide expert advice on payroll matters including tax, NI, and pension schemes
  • Ensure timely and accurate RTI submissions and statutory reporting to HMRC
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices

Key Skills:

  • Experience in a high-volume payroll bureau, ideally within an accountancy practice
  • Strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation and auto-enrolment
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., Xero, BrightPay, Sage) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information
  • Strong communication skills and a client-focused approach
  • Ability to commute to Renfrewshire and full UK right to work
