Summary: The Payments Test Manager will lead the end-to-end testing strategy for a large-scale payment processing platform migration. This role demands extensive technical expertise in payment processing systems and the ability to align business requirements with technical implementation and compliance obligations. The successful candidate will ensure successful scheme certification, processor integration, and operational readiness. This position is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement and is outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead comprehensive testing cycles including functional testing, scheme certification, integration testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production validation
- Define and execute the test strategy and detailed test plan, ensuring full documentation and governance
- Create and maintain robust test cases and end-to-end test scripts across payment processing workflows
- Oversee testing between internal systems, card schemes, and third-party processor platforms
- Manage integration testing across client, scheme, and processor environments
- Drive continuous improvements in test coverage, automation frameworks, and execution efficiency
- Utilise host simulators and modern test automation tools
- Support and mentor internal testing team members across manual and automated testing best practice
- Ensure compliance with scheme rules and regulatory standards throughout the testing lifecycle
Key Skills:
- Strong experience in payment processing testing within financial services
- Deep understanding of authorisation, clearing and settlement, disputes and chargebacks
- Proven experience delivering test strategies for payment platform migrations or processor implementations
- Hands-on experience managing scheme certification testing
- Expertise in integration testing, UAT, and production validation
- Familiarity with ISO 8583 messaging and card scheme compliance requirements
- Experience working with third-party processors (eg FIS, Fiserv, ACI, GPS, Compass Plus or similar)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical engineering teams and senior stakeholders
