Location: London, Glasgow or Northampton office based 2-3 days per week, the rest remote

Start: ASAP

Contract Duration: Full time role (Monday to Friday) 6 months initially (inside IR35)

About The Role

Deloitte Operations are seeking a Payment Control Analyst.

You will operate within the Payment Control Gateway (PCG) to review, validate and control payments prior to release, ensuring accuracy and preventing erroneous payments through evidence-based verification and structured decisioning.

Ensuring that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and our clients internal Policies and Policy Standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Review and assess payments flagged by control rules prior to release
  • Validate payments against supporting evidence including trades, confirmations and SSI
  • Make release, hold or escalate decisions in line with defined procedures and limits of authority
  • Actively stop and escalate payments where risk or ambiguity is identified
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis on exceptions and near misses
  • Identify drivers of false positives and support ongoing refinement of control rules
  • Maintain accurate audit trail and documentation of all decisions
  • Produce MI on volumes, outcomes and key exception drivers
  • Collaborate with Operations, Technology and Front Office stakeholders to resolve complex scenarios, verifying if they can independently – but if theres any doubt/queries they should relentlessly interrogate the data and get direct answers from the services as to the rationale/process for the payment

Skills/Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in Global Markets Operations, payment processing or post-trade activities
  • Strong understanding of payment flows, settlement processes and trade lifecycle
  • Ability to analyse and validate financial transactions using multiple data sources
  • Experience handling exceptions and working within controlled operational frameworks
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make risk-based decisions under time pressure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in payment controls, transaction monitoring or risk/control environments
  • Knowledge of FX, Derivatives, Collateral or Financing products
  • Familiarity with SSI validation, confirmations and settlement data
  • Experience working with rule-based or AI/ML driven control environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
