Pay, Reward and Benefits Manager

The Role

As Pay, Reward and Benefits Manager, you will be responsible for the effective delivery and ongoing development of compensation and reward frameworks, ensuring they remain competitive, compliant and aligned with business requirements.

You will work closely with HR, management and Reward colleagues, providing expert guidance on pay and reward matters and supporting key annual reward processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop compensation frameworks covering base pay, pay ranges, allowances and variable pay.
  • Lead the annual pay review process and support incentive distribution.
  • Conduct regular salary benchmarking and market analysis.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of compensation programmes and recommend improvements.
  • Oversee the delivery of domestic and international mobility services and frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and HR colleagues on compensation-related matters.
  • Produce compensation data, KPIs and statutory reporting, including gender pay gap analysis.
  • Support pay agreements and provide specialist input into industrial relations and trade union discussions.
  • Work closely with HR and Payroll to ensure compensation changes are implemented accurately and compliantly.
  • Act as the focal point for compensation-related internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compensation processes comply with relevant legislation, regulations and internal governance.
  • Provide professional leadership, guidance and development to Reward colleagues.
  • Line manage Reward professionals and hold them accountable for delivery.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Pay, Reward, Compensation or Total Reward professional with a strong understanding of compensation frameworks and pay structures.

Suitable backgrounds could include: Pay & Reward Manager, Reward Manager, Compensation Manager, Compensation & Benefits Manager, Total Reward Manager, Reward Lead, Senior Reward Specialist, Reward Consultant, Head of Reward.

You should have strong experience in areas such as salary benchmarking, pay reviews, compensation frameworks, allowances, incentives and reward strategy.

Experience with mobility/relocation, payroll, industrial relations, trade unions, gender pay gap reporting or compensation audits would be highly advantageous.

Working Arrangements

The position is based in Reading, with an expectation of approximately 2–3 days per week onsite, with the remainder working remotely.

There will also be some mandatory onsite attendance for induction, kit retrieval and a medical appointment.

Security clearance

SC clearance is desirable, and candidates with SC clearance that has lapsed within the last 12 months may also be considered.
