PART-TIME REGIONAL DIRECTOR business development focus

Posted 4 days ago by Boardroom Advisors: Part-Time CEOs MDs NEDs for Scale-Ups and SME's.

Company Description

Boardroom Advisors provides real-world board-level support to scale-ups and SMEs through part-time CEOs, Managing Directors, Non-Executive Directors, Chairs, and paid mentors.

The firm offers flexible advisory services from as little as one day per quarter, with no recruitment fees, no long-term commitments, and the ability to adjust or change advisors as business needs evolve.

Clients gain access to highly experienced UK-based professionals who act as part of the team, delivering consulting, direction, and strategy at a fraction of the cost of full-time executives.

Founded by serial entrepreneur John G. Courtney, who has built and advised multiple successful businesses over more than 40 years, Boardroom Advisors is focused on practical, proven guidance rather than theory.

Role Description

This is a part-time Regional Director role with a strong business development focus, offered on a contract basis.

The position is hybrid, based in the Greater Bristol Area, United Kingdom, with a mix of on-site client engagement and some work-from-home flexibility.

*Please do not apply if you are not based within 25 miles of Bristol or the North of England*

Day-to-day responsibilities include identifying and approaching potential client companies, building relationships with scale-ups and SMEs, and promoting Boardroom Advisors’ services in the region.

The Regional Director will lead new business development initiatives, manage the sales pipeline, drive lead generation activities both directly and through networking, and oversee contract negotiation and onboarding of new clients.

The role also involves maintaining ongoing relationships with key accounts, collaborating with other Advisors to match client needs with the right expertise, and providing regular reporting on regional performance and market opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strengths in New Business Development and Lead Generation to expand a regional client base.
  • Proficiency in Business Planning, including setting regional growth targets and developing go-to-market strategies.
  • Experience with Contract Negotiation to structure and finalize advisory engagements that meet client and company objectives.
  • Account Management capabilities to maintain long-term, trust-based relationships with scale-up and SME clients.
  • Proven track record in B2B services or professional consulting, ideally with small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and the ability to understand owners’ and founders’ challenges.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and networking skills, with confidence engaging at C-suite and founder level.
  • Self-directed work style, capable of operating autonomously in a regional role while collaborating with a wider advisory team.
  • Knowledge of the UK SME and scale-up ecosystem; prior experience in the Greater Bristol or wider South West region is advantageous.
  • Background as a senior leader, consultant, or business owner is highly beneficial; relevant degree or professional qualification is a plus but not mandatory.
