Key Responsibilities:

  • Building strong working relationships across the organisation to deliver a genuinely value-adding finance service
  • Producing first-stage analysis and variance commentary at month and year end
  • Supporting the preparation of forecasts and longer-term financial plans, including ongoing monitoring and reporting
  • Meeting regularly with budget holders to review spend against plan - spotting, resolving, or escalating issues early
  • Acting as a first point of contact for finance questions and queries, responding promptly and helpfully

  • Experience in a busy, customer-focused finance role
  • Solid management accounting skills - budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting, with the ability to identify and explain variances
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, including explaining complex information to non-specialists
  • Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong IT skills, particularly across Microsoft Office, and an eye for using systems to support clear reporting

Broster Buchanan are working with a values-led not-for-profit, and we're looking for an Assistant Management Accountant to join their friendly, supportive finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This is a part-time role (60% FTE) with flexible hybrid working - and some of the best holidays around, with c.40 days off a year including statutory days.   • Part-qualification (or equivalent experience) towards a recognised accountancy qualification CCAB (ACA/CIMA/CIPFA/ACCA )
