Summary: Service Care Solutions is seeking a Paralegal to join the COVID-19 Inquiry's legal team in Edinburgh. The role involves assisting solicitors and Counsel in preparing evidence and documentation while ensuring efficient delivery of outcomes. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring two days in the office per week, and has a contract length of 18 months. The salary is set at £36,944 per annum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting solicitors and Counsel with consideration of evidence and preparing reports and documents for use by the solicitor and Counsel teams.
  • Working with solicitors to brief teams on taking witness evidence.
  • Preparation and review of core participant documentation.
  • Liaising with and supporting solicitors and Counsel on investigations.
  • Carrying out other tasks required by the inquiry, including providing cover for the wider team of paralegals.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to carry out tasks independently with minimum oversight, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as excellent analytical and research skills.
  • Ability to take accurate notes and action points of complex meetings.
  • Good knowledge of Scots law.
  • Ability to foresee risk and assist with strategic planning.

Salary (Rate): £36,944 yearly

Service Care Solutions is working alongside the COVID-19 Inquiry as they need a Paralegal to join their legal team. In this role, you will work as part of the Inquiry legal team to flexibly and constructively ensure the efficient delivery of outcomes.

Salary: Grade B2 (£36,944per annum)

Contract Length: 18 months

Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid – 2 days in the office)

Ltd Day Rate: £192.61

PAYE Day Rate inc. of Holiday: £164.56

Submission Deadline: 12th of June 2025 (AM)

Working Pattern & Location:

Standard hours: 35 hours per week.

Hybrid working: typically 2 days per week in the Edinburgh office.

Some periods, particularly around hearings, may require longer hours and on-site presence.

Flexible and hybrid working options considered depending on role needs.
