Summary: The Scrum Master is responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum and Agile methodologies within the organization. This role involves facilitating Scrum events, coaching teams, and ensuring effective communication and understanding of Agile practices. The Scrum Master will work with multiple Scrum teams and support SAFe events, focusing on continuous improvement and maximizing team productivity. The position is based in Leeds, UK, and requires a strong background in Agile development processes and Scrum methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cover 2 Scrum Teams, who work in the same front-end domain.
- Support SAFe events including PI Planning.
- Support readiness activity for PI Planning, including dependency, risk and feature refinement.
- Attend and lead squad planning during the PI planning event.
- Is accountable for squad delivery and visibility of the plan.
- Proactively manages and communicates risks, issues and impacts to the PI plan.
- Support and work with the wider scrum master community across the value stream to participate in continuous improvement activity.
- Ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team as well as possible.
- Helping the Scrum Team understand the need for clear and concise Product Backlog items.
- Understanding product planning in an empirical environment.
- Ensuring the Product Owner knows how to arrange the Product Backlog to maximize value.
- Understanding and practicing agility.
- Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed.
- Assisting the product organization refine the user stories to make sure they are constructed with all the required information.
- Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality.
- Helping the Development Team to create high-value products.
- Removing impediments to the Development Team’s progress.
- Facilitating all team meetings, including the Daily Stand-up / Scrum, Refinement Session, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review / Demo, and Sprint Retrospective.
- Leading and coaching the organization in its Scrum adoption.
- Planning Scrum implementations within the organization.
- Helping employees and stakeholders understand and enact Scrum and empirical product development.
- Causing change that increases the productivity of the Scrum Team.
- Working with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
Key Skills:
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM).
- Significant experience leading technology Scrum Teams.
- Significant experience in an Information Technology / Software Development organization.
- Significant experience with Agile development processes.
- Experience doing release planning and milestone planning (based on the velocity).
- Experience of working within a SAFe environment.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field is desirable, but not essential for the right candidate.
